Tip # 4
Here goes— your boss, or spouse, or church board, or school, or your organization want event entertainment, and they want you to track down the best bet. Now what?
If this is a once a year (or lifetime) thing for you, this may help you move down that track:
- The easiest and most effective way to find quality entertainment is still old fashioned word-of-mouth. People tend to trust other people rather than direct information like on a website. Ask your friends, extended family, work colleagues, and social contacts first.
- Get useful information like: What sort of entertainment have they had success with? Who do they recommend, and also important, who would they not recommend. What did they really like about the show, what were the weak points?
- The next most handy resource is of course the Internet. Every credible entertainer will have a website (so will hacks, so don’t rely on everything you read!) The information on the site will, however, reflect the professionalism and history of the company.
- A website is mostly an “online business card,” It has the required information to contact the entertainer with relevant questions and get to know who they are, and how they operate.
Once you have at least a dozen phone numbers, you’re on the way to success.
The old phrase “The entertainment can make or break the party.” is all too true, so take your search one curious step at a time.
More to come!
